BACKGROUND
Razira has invaded neighbouring Kirian.
Kirian has asked neighbouring Oruwe and distant Mequi for help.
Razira has told Oruwe and Mequi they will go to war with them too if they send warriors to help Kirian.
Oruwe and Mequi are sending weapons and medicine to Kirian. They are not sending warriors.
Sheem trades with everybody. Everybody relies on Sheem for ore. Sheem is wealthy.
Sheem has stated it will send warriors to help Razira if Oruwe and Mequi send warriors to help Kirian.
The invasion continues. Everybody is going round in circles. More people are dying including many innocents.
Razira says it will stop the invasion if Kirian agrees to give half of Kirian to Razira.
Kirian has said it will fight to the death to prevent that.
COMPLEXITY
Razira says the reason it has invaded Kirian is because Kirian was unstable.
Razira says it will bring stability to the region.
Kirian has a history of domestic problems.
East Kirian and West Kirian have been fighting for generations.
West Kirian used to be part of Oruwe.
East Kirian used to be part of Razira.
Razira and Mequi are historic enemies.
Mequi and Oruwe are strong allies.
For this reason Oruwe and Razira do not trust each other.
Kirian was formed as a buffer kingdom between Razira and Oruwe when both sides agreed to donate land.
1/3 the people of Kirian (East Kirians) have mixed Kirian-Raziran ancestry and want to be part of Razira.
1/3 the people Kirian (West Kirians) have mixed Kirian-Oruwe ancestry and want to be part of Oruwe.
1/3 of Kirian are indigenous Kirians.
The Monarchy of Kirian are true-blood Kirians. Their goal is an independent Kirian empire.
The Kirians have been oppressing the Eastern Raziran-Kirians for generations.
The Eastern Raziran-Kirians have been rebelling against the Kirians for generations.
The Eastern Raziran-Kirians have asked Razira for help.
Razira says the invasion is to liberate the oppressed Eastern Raziran-Kirians.
Razira also want to reclaim East Kirian as part of the Kingdom of Razira, as it was in the old days before Kirian was given the land to establish its own Kingdom.
Razira also want the resources of East Kirian.
Razira has said it will end the war if Kirian accept the loss of 1/3 its land and resources.
Sheem want to trade with Razira for the resources of East Kirian; Sheem's incentive to back Razira.
There is rumour Sheem are encouraging Razira to war with Kirian and potentially Oruwe and Mequi because war will weaken Razira. Sheem shares a border with Razira. Razira believes Sheem to be a strong ally who will not betray them. Sheem are helping to fund Razira's invasion of Kirian.
Kirian has for years been petitioning distant Mequi to establish stronger bonds.
Mequi has been accused of manipulating Kirian to antagonise and now to weaken its historic enemy Razira.
The King of Kirian is absolutely determined to destroy all Razirans.
This has fuelled Kirian oppression of Eastern Kirians (Raziran-Kirians).
Kirian will not accept peace in exchange for loss of 1/3 of Kirians land and resources.
Kirian is begging Oruwe and Mequi for donations of supplies, medicine, weapons, and warriors.
Kirian is currently losing the war.
Razira has so far only invaded the East part of Kirian which used to be part of Razira.
In doing so it has liberated the East Raziran-Kirians from Kirian oppression.
There is not much of East Kirian left standing at this time, it is a burnt-out war-zone.
Fields have been destroyed. Towns, villages, communities have been destroyed. Infrastructure has been destroyed.
Sheem has offered to loan Kirian money to purchase more supplies, in exchange for Kirian resources in event Kirian is able to push Razira back out of East (Raziran) Kirian. The probability is Kirian would use the loan to hire mercenaries (which may extend the campaign beyond the five kingdoms already involved).
Although Kirian officially ends at a certain marker point, Kirian jurisdiction has been semi-officially extended to cover part of East Oruwe which has been ‘recovered from swamp’ by workers from both East Oruwe and West Kirian, to provide resources for both Kirian and Oruwe who are both happy about this situation.
This relationship has annoyed Razira as it strengthens Kirian ability to defend itself against Razira.
Razira and Oruwe have officially ceased trading as a result of the situation of Razira expanding into East Kirian.
The trade sanctions are damaging to Oruwe who rely on Kirian for resources more than it is damaging to Razira.
Independent merchants claiming independence from the politics continue to ignore the sanctions for the benefit of all parties. Kirian and Oruwe are called to act on those ignoring the sanctions. Kirian is policing that more fiercely than Oruwe and demands stronger policing of it from Oruwe. Oruwe suggests the independent trade parties may be useful yet in establishing peace and resuming trade in future. Kirian questions Oruwe authority as duplicitous.
Recently an attitude amongst some central Kirians that ‘if Razira can extend west so would we”.
Western Oruwe-Kirians however enjoy the situation of mixed Oruwe-Kirian management of Oruwe swamp reclamation project exactly as it is with no change because it allows everyone to prosper.
This situation is used politically to compare with what Razira are doing in East Kirian.
Kirian is reliant on Oruwe especially during the war with Razira so it is unwise for Kirian to disrupt the friendly relationship with Oruwe by forcing the issues;
1 of officially claiming land for Kirian which was and is technically part of Oruwe,
2 policing of independent merchants who ignore trade sanctions against Razira.
